Amy started out as a runner and began training for the skeleton at the University of Bath.  Williams did not make the 2006 Olympic team.


In Amy's first major event she won the silver medal at the 2009 World Championships in Lake Placid.

In 2010 Williams qualified for the Olympic Games in Vancouver Canada where she won the gold medal in women's skeleton by breaking the track record twice.


Amy became the first British gold medalist in the skeleton or individual event  at the Winter Olympics for 30 years.


In 2011 Amy won the bronze medal at the European Skeleton Championships at St. Moritz.
