Pearson was awarded the Female athlete of the year by the International Association of Athletics Federations in 2011. Sally was the first Australian to receive the award.
In 2011 Sally won the gold medal in the 100 m hurdles at the World Championships held in Daegu, South Korea.
Pearson also won a gold medal in the 60 m hurdles at the 2012 World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
