Schafer's Swiss team won the gold at the 2012 Ford World Women's Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.


In 2007 Carmen joined Mirjam Ott's Curling team and finished fourth at the 2007 European Curling Championships.  Ott's team won the bronze medal in 2008 and the silver medal in 2009.

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, Schafer's team finished fourth.


Carmen also won the Gold Medal at the 2008 European Championships in Omskoldsvik, Sweden.


Carmen is known for having a pierced tongue and posing in the women of curling calendar.
